Illustrator and Assistant Editor

About Me

Hi! I'm Mike

I have lived just about everywhere from Colorado, Wyoming, Oregon and Northern California but I eventually settled in Southern California after attending the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.  My initial focus at Art Center was transportation design.  I then decided to branch out with my artistic curiosity, which led me on a path to the television world.   I learned the art of storytelling through the eyes of an editor.  As an assistant editor I had the privilege of working with the production teams for The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Third Rock From The Sun, That 70’s Show and Rules of Engagement

During a friend’s birthday party I heard another friend discussing a possible book idea and was looking for an illustrator.  After explaining that I would be happy to assist, I soon found myself with a contract to illustrate and water color over 100 images for my first published book.   My love and passion for Santa Barbara transformed into the acclaimed book, Santa Barbara, A California Coastal Town (Boardwalk Press).

The success of the Santa Barbara book led to another collaboration on a Palm Springs project.  Bridging the perfect Southern California lifestyle between the ocean and now the desert I spent over a year researching and bringing to fruition the soon to be published, Palm Springs, A California Desert Town (Boardwalk Press).

Selected prints of both books are included in the gallery section and are also offered for sale. These books and others can be ordered by clicking on the link:  boardwalkpress.com.

Harking back to my design background I continue to explore home design and remodeling.  Two of the most exciting projects was a complete restoration of a 1950’s post and beam modern home located in a canyon area of Los Angeles and a cottage located in one of the area’s beach communities.  Both projects involved collaborating with architects, contractors and home owners.  I particularly enjoyed working as a project manager coordinating and solving the inevitable issues that arise between home owners and their construction teams.

When not working, you can often find me at a bowling alley in a futile attempt to attain a perfect 300.
